Yesterday, November 29, the Talent Commision of 22@Network BCN organized together with Barcelona Digital Talent and Barcelona Activa the last Masterclass of the year at space of the MediaTic IT Academy, on the generation of employment through digital talent.
Firstly, a tour was held and an explanation of the functioning of the Barcelona Activa IT Academy and what the process is like that the students follow.
Next, Marc Soldevila, Digital Talent Project Manager of the BDT explained how the BDT focuses on 3 steps: the first, orientation (making available all the material and dissemination to open up opportunities), the second, training (directory of courses or subsidized training) and the last, connection (when the candidates are already trained, organize activities for them to connect with companies).
In addition, he explained that the BDT's role, apart from creating content at a pedagogical level, is to participate and support the recruitment of students and generate connections with the market. And in addition to the connections, establish a process of accompaniment.
Finally, he explained that projects have recently emerged such as the day they organized to concentrate different activities in a single day: Jump2digital. Where they invited people to jump into the digital world through inspirational presentations, cases of technological projects or the contribution of people who move on the networks or influencers.
On the other hand, Martí Rodriguez, Head of Digital Talent and Innovation explained how the IT Academy has been transformed into a training center in the field of web development and data analysis that encourages reskilling towards the IT sector of people who come from other economic sectors.
He explained that from Barcelona Activa, in 2015 they saw that there was a talent gap in Europe and all over the world and in the city of Barcelona there was a lot of digital demand. Faced with the needs of the citizens of Barcelona, they created an adhoc training catalog and put into practice the training model created by the US and adapted it to its values, missions and the needs of the city.
Its goal is to help people pivot in a growing industry and face great opportunities. The IT sector is very open, anyone with technical skills can be useful in the sector, and it allows both candidates and companies to be helped.
Finally, he explained how the IT Academy model is developed in 3 phases, a first foundation (7-week prior course with a data analytics base), a second specialization (technology dissemination, upskilling and improvement of digital skills), and the third which would be IT Project.
At the end of the presentations, the attendees debated the difficulties, challenges and future of talent recruitment by companies.
