We were delighted to welcome four students from Dong-A University in Busan, South Korea, to 22@ Barcelona, where they explored one of Europe's most successful examples of urban regeneration and innovation.
The visit took place at Smart the House, where the students first attended a presentation on the history and transformation of the 22@ Innovation District. They learned how the area has evolved from a former industrial neighbourhood into a thriving hub for innovation, technology and knowledge, while also discovering the role of 22@Network Barcelona in connecting companies, institutions, universities and research centres across the district.

The team from Smart Flex introduced the building, explaining the concept behind its distinctive façade and how it reflects Poblenou's industrial heritage. From the rooftop terrace, the students enjoyed panoramic views of the district and its iconic factory chimneys.

The students then visited Ca l'Alier, where they discovered how a former industrial factory has been transformed into an innovation hub, and learned about Barcelona's Superblocks (Superilles) as an example of sustainable urban planning.

It was a pleasure to share the story of the 22@ Innovation District and exchange perspectives on urban transformation with the next generation of international professionals.
