On this occasion, Prof. Ricardo Baeza-Yates, Research Director of the Institute of Experiential AI, Northeastern University, USA & DTIC, UPF, will be in charge of the Update. His presentation will expose the main ethical challenges posed by data and artificial intelligence in general and by algorithms and biases in particular. How to avoid, for instance, cases like the one which happened in Arizona where a woman was hit by an Uber self-driving car because she cycled across the middle of a road at night, something that was not in the training data?

On the other hand, the innovator of the month will be Tatiana Gottlib, TPS Director, Dynatrace ONE. She will explain us how Dynatrace solves the issue that the sheer volume of data collected surpasses the capacity of human comprehension. Transforming raw data into valuable insights requires indeed contextual understanding. Organizations frequently encounter challenges in balancing cost, speed, and visibility in the realm of data analysis.
